The Historical Detective Agency Ltd is owned and operated by Daniel MacCannell, a professional author and script writer since 1997 and Ph.D.-qualified historian. His credits range from Pink Panther cartoons to popular histories of towns and regions to academic histories of individual buildings and paintings.
Dr MacCannell’s general rate for commissioned non-fiction writing under his own name is £150 per 1,000 words, plus royalties at 10% of the cover price if the work is published commercially. This rate is inclusive of research/travel within the British mainland, in the case of projects 20,000 words or more. Discounts of up to 20% may apply in the case of public-sector institutions and bona fide charitable causes.
Website copy, informational pamphlets, and other works to be published anonymously or under the name of your organisation can be provided royalty-free at a lower rate of £100 per 1,000 words.
